Controversial ‘Kamasutra’ Film: A tale of love’ to release in Telugu
Oscar nominated Indian woman director Mira Nair directed ‘Kamasutra: A tale of love’, a take on the ancient Indian erotic historic book written by Vatsayana, was banned in 1996 by the Indian Censor board.
The board and the then government felt that the explicit and realistic sex scenes from the movie will be too bold for the mainstream Indian audiences in those days. As a result, the film was branded too bold and controversial for its time.
The film had numerous love making scenes between straight couples and the subject of homosexuality, which is still considered taboo in India, was also touched. The sex scenes are too realistic even for today.
